| Ready to Learn / What do I need to know |
| Remember when you first decide you want to learn karate ,you are unsure where to go ,where or when to train ,what to wear, your nervous ,you have a belief that all Martial Arts is the same as you have seen on TV.But I can promise you ,Karate ,Kickboxing which every martial arts you choose is nothing like Bruce Lee or Van Damme did in the films .This is real life not acting .You could get caught ,but everything you are shown is by a trained martial artist who has been training for years .Most clubs have semi contact rules ,some clubs have full contact rules so think before you join . The best way to besure you have the correct Club to teach you is to check out a few first ,then when you are ready to start go back to the one which impressed you most. But be wary of the fees ,some clubs; will over charge you .The one where you can learn what you want to learn are always regarded as the best . Remember not all Clubs have the same approach to teaching as others . You have Karate,or Kickboxing Taekwondo and loads of different styles .It never easy choosing the right one .Also one important fact is the money ,some clubs charge way over the top for insurance , Karate Gi ,Equipment,Sessions Course's ETC so beware and asked about fees before you go along to watch, if they will not give you a straight answer then i suggest you look elsewhere .One other ting to remember its you who pays us ,we don't pay you to attend. Clothes When you first start it is always best to contact the Club before the first session to find out what you can and can't wear during a session. Most clubs will say no to SHORTS ,also take off any jewelley you have for safety reason. Another important fact is wear loose fitting clothers to your first session. And dont be affraid to ask questions at the begining and end of your first session . Also if you get time check if they have a web -site,as most information should be displayed ,unless they have something to hide. You will then have some idea as to who the instructor is and times of the sessions, what the fees are for a session ,membership ,if its not listed then asked yourslelf WHY???. The majority of; Karate clubs will give the FIRST SESSION FREE that will then give you some idea if the club is right for you ,check before this should be displayed on the clubs web-site. First Session When you arrive the Club Instructor or Senior Student; should come up and speak to you ,and ask you a few questions ie Name ,have you done it before etc etc The Session When you line up ,it will be in grade order with the highest ranking student to your left and so on .Never talk when the instructor is talking its bad manners and disrespectful to the instructor and the club . One thing to remember is NEVER over stretch or TRY and keep up with other students at your first session ,your new THEY have been training for a lot longer. Insurance After a few session you will be asked to take our insurrance which some clubs charge £30 per year every year .We only charge you £15 per year for your 1st year & £13 when you renew .Why ,well we are doing it because we enjoy it and not to build a fortune out of your fees . When the FIRST session is over and you have decided to join ,you can normally order a Karate Gi or KickBoxing equipment ,which ever system you have decided to start Training with from your Club Instructor. Remember every student who trains should be doing it for the right reason .Safety , Confidence and Leaning Good luck ,hope to see you at the next session. |
