LANCING FREESTYLE KARATE
GRADING AUGUST 5TH 2007
On Sunday August 5th 2007 ,Eight students from Lfk were selected to attempt to grade to their next grade .Those eight included Hannah Cogger
who was attempting to become a FIRST DAN BLACK BELT after many years being told she was too young. The Students were taken for a Hour
Session prior to the Grading by Lauren Palmer 3rd Kyu Brown Belt ,with myself near by should she need assistance. After the hour they were given
a short break before the Kyu Grades were taken for a quick warm up by Beth White 3rd Kyu Brown Belt ,then it was time .The Eight students were
taken through Combinations ,Kata ,Sets ,Self Defence ,Pad Work (depending on grade)and after all that they had to perform at least 5 different
exercise including skipping . At the end of the grading they had all pasted ,some came close but i put that down to nerves on the day. We also had a
new 1st Kyu Brown Belt as Georgina Berrystone passed without any major problems,Well Done Georgie.

At 14.45 Hannah Cogger started her Dan Grade and over an Hour and a Half  later she had passed without any problems .Hannah also had to
demonstrate Combinations , Sets and Kata to a very high standard along with Self Defence including Knife and Gun attack ,plus weapons /Bats /etc.
At the end she also had to show her fitness by doing exercises which included 150 skips after Sit ups, Push Ups,Knee Jumps , Cycle Squats and
Sumo Squats .Hannah had been waiting a long time to prove other people were wrong about age being a barrier to become a 1st Dan.
I was pleased to inform her she had Passed without any problems ,which at a young age was exceptional.

Well done to all students who passed on the day ,and a big well done to LFKS NEW 1ST DAN HANNAH COGGER
